After escaping relegation on the last day of the 2022–23 season, Everton and Sean Dyche planned for a better season in 2023–24. The Toffees went into the transfer window looking for a striker, as scoring goals was their biggest problem. One of the players who was bought was Sporting CP’s Youssef Chermiti.
The 19-year-old teenage sensation came into the limelight last season. He spent more than 1,000 minutes on the pitch for the Portuguese club. Everton had to pay a decent amount to bring him in from Sporting. Here is a look at the players’ stats that show why Everton invested in them.
Menace in the box
Youssef Chermiti scored three goals in his debut season at the Portuguese club. He made appearances in 16 league games and was able to make a difference in a couple of matches. Chermiti attempted 26 shots, including a penalty. The player attempted the majority of the shots from inside the penalty box and had a decent accuracy rate of 53.8%. His xG per shot was also on the higher side.
Other abilities
In his debut season, the teenager wasn’t involved in a lot of actions. But one thing that Sean Dyche can expect from his new recruit is link-up play with the other striker.
Chermiti only averaged around 12 passes per 90 minutes and had a 71.2% accuracy rate. He only provided two shot assists, and both chances were converted.
