The 21-year-old has announced himself as a significant force during his first senior campaign at Stamford Bridge.
After spending last year on loan at Derby County under Frank Lampard, Chelsea academy merchandise Mount has transitioned to the Blues senior group in 2019-20.
The 21-year-old made his England debut in September 2019, and Cahill considers there is plenty more to come in the attacking midfielder.
Sky Sports asked Cahill to mention the Premier League’s most exciting young player, and the prior Australia international said that Mount was his selection.
“I like the look of all Mason Mount. I believe he is a leading goalscorer and he’s got a massive career before him,” Cahill said.
“One of the reasons why I enjoy him a lot is because of his trainer [Lampard] and how he’s trying to mould a player very similar to himself. He could lead him to show him the ideal ways.
“You can see that starting to come into fruition with his football this year. I am a big fan.”
Cahill announced his retirement this past year following a career that took him all over the globe, such as stops in Australia, Asia, North America, and Europe.
The 40-year-old is famous for his time in Everton, where he played from 2004 to 2012 and eventually become a fan favourite for his consistent performances together with the Toffees.
“Marco Silva is a good manager but sadly he had some difficult times,” Cahill said. “I believe he had to be more open and adopt the fans a bit more. Results weren’t going his way, but you can see the character of Ancelotti, the aura and the esteem that he carries.
“He’s won the fans over, which is actually important because they’re a big portion of the football club. Everton will improve and I’m looking forward to seeing where he could choose the club.”
